Dear Homeland Member,
Your security is our top priority, and we want to make you aware of a recent scam that may impact you.
We've received reports of fraudulent phone calls targeting individuals in our region. These calls appear to come from a trusted source, with scammers impersonating financial institutions and falsely claiming there has been suspicious activity on your account. They may even reference the names of real employees to sound more convincing.
Please remember: Homeland Credit Union will never call you to ask for your online banking username, password, or any one-time verification codes.
Here’s what you can do to stay safe:
- Do not share personal or account information over the phone unless you initiate the call using our official contact numbers.
- If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and contact us directly at 740-775-3331 or send a secure message through online banking.
- Monitor your accounts regularly for any unusual activity. If anything seems off, please reach out right away.
Additional ways to protect yourself:
- Always access Homeland Credit Union using our official websites: homelandcu.com or my.homelandcu.com. Double-check bookmarks to make sure they lead to the correct site.
- Avoid clicking on links in emails or text messages from unknown or unexpected sources.
- If you receive an email requesting a change to payment instructions, whether from a business, vendor, or leadership, verify it by calling a known, trusted number (not the number in the message).
- Use dual approval for online payments when possible. Adding a second set of eyes can help prevent fraudulent transactions.
- Always log out of online banking before downloading software or updates.
If you ever have questions or concerns about your account security, we’re here to help. Please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for being a valued member of Homeland Credit Union.
